This paper attempts to determine the relationship between Drosophila melanogaster and Drosophila elegans for five genes located on chromosome four. Each gene was annotated to the specifications of the Genomics Education Partnership and passed all specifications that were needed to do so. The function, percentage conservation for Drosophila elegans, and the percentage conservation for other genera were recorded to determine a relationship between the two species in comparison to other genera. Results showed that there were a strong relationship between the two species in comparison to other genera and showed that function was closely related to conservation of genes.
